ACRYLICS, TEMPERA, COLOUR PENCILS ON CANVAS
During my studies and for a while after graduation, I painted large compositions which could be described as figurative abstract. This interest in human figures and situations took a new direction, and what now fascinates me are not the actual scenes or events but something that lies deeper - how to strive to find a balance between an almost hyper-realistic yet monochromatic portrait and austere background? Which moment to choose? How much to reveal? Are the large tracts of emptiness, asymmetrical composition, and restricted colours enough to represent that sense of uncertainty, tension, and possibility?
