Short Stories – Magdalena Agata Kozicka

For Short Stories, the earliest series, the massive rectangular canvases are divided into 12 rows and 12 columns of smaller, evenly distributed rectangles, about the size of the pages of paperback books. Each ‘surface’ is relief-like, using scrambled, brushy strokes that soften the hard edges of their geometric frames. The relationship between surfaces creates uncertainties in shading to the point where the colours appear like uncertain signs of colours rather than as the colours themselves.
