In View from my window series, some of the ‘surfaces’ contrast sharply with the ‘grids’ and backgrounds, while in others, the grid is almost invisible due to an apparent lack of contrast between colours within the surfaces. In such cases, the paintings, when looked at from a distance, seem completely monochromatic. However, on closer inspection, things start to shimmer, and subtle nuances of hue start leading the eye. The pictorial space deepens and seems to animate.

All the paintings reflect the light differently depending on where and when and how they are looked at. In addition, the works are unframed, and as the canvas bends to cross over the edge of the paintings, it seems, by some optical trick, to change colour slightly.
